368oak Newsletter

It's been an unusually cold and blustery winter here at 368oak™.  Noreen and Jack find solace, however, in their lofts where the sun, although rarely, shines through the eastern windows (and where warm air rises!).

With the speculation of offering Spring/Summer 2010 studio space, we realize that we have just too much furniture!  So, please check out our sale.  Also, if you are a Christian Pro-Life artist/crafter, and would like to inquire about a studio space, please contact Noreen at adm@368oak.com

We're also anticipating two more resident artist positions in The Lofts as well.  368oak ™ has frontage on the main street of Downtown Spruce Pine, which makes everything you need within walking distance, yet provides private/quiet working space in a Christian Pro-Life atmosphere.  Spruce Pine is centrally located between Asheville and Boone, NC and Johnson City, Tenn.  We enjoy many visitors from Charlotte, NC during the summer months as well as our seasonal residents from Florida.  Spruce Pine is also the Home of the Perfect Christmas Tree, which welcomes your new ideas in promoting Gloria Houston's book.  As we near the upcoming season, we will be posting helpful information regarding Blue Ridge Mountain events through this Newsletter, so please do check back.

Being our first winter with a focus on developing steady incomes solely through our artwork, an intensive online search has awarded us some wonderful opportunities.  We are in the process of setting up shops where we can focus on image-creation and marketing while other essential business activities are being handled by the site.  There is some comfort in that!

However challenging to a novice in digital technology, Noreen has accomplished opening two shops linked above in just about one month:

"It has been a challenge for me to go online.  The designs have to be perfected to a standard that prints well, beginning with the image-creation itself, then the process of having it ready for on-demand printing. The work has been tedius and time-consuming, however, I have accomplished enough digital technique to create imagery off the easle!  My priority was to show my support for Pro-Life issues (until we completely outlaw the merciless killing of innocent life in-utero and with euthanasia); and, now that I have made a statement of my religious/polital views through LittleDoctor and BabyBigTalk, I will be busy converting my other styles of original artworks.  I am also pleased that along the way, I have figured out how to make a watermark, so as to protect the images on the website before marketing it world-wide.

Jack, on the other hand, being born in the digital generation, is quite proficient in "progressive digital art" and website design.  Moving in and setting up his loft and studio at 368oak while adjusting to this unusually cold and snowy winter has been his biggest challenge.   Browse his galleries of extraordinary work:
